雪月花を題材にした、芳年の役者絵「雪月花」より。

雪（岩倉宗玄）・月（毛剃九右衛門）・花（御所五郎蔵）の三部作からなります。

破戒僧・岩倉宗玄を演じる尾上梅幸。
雪降る中、肩をあらわに佇むその姿は、静けさと凄みをあわせ持ち、強い印象を残します。

 

From Yoshitoshi’s celebrated actor print series Setsugekka (Snow, Moon, and Flowers).

The triptych comprises Snow (Iwakura Sogen), Moon (Kezori Kuemon), and Flower (Gosho Gorozo).

Here, Onoe Baiko appears as the renegade monk Iwakura Sogen.
Bare-shouldered in the falling snow, he embodies a striking tension between quiet stillness and raw intensity.
