芳年による役者絵のシリーズ《情得感檀形》。

多様な天候や自然の情景の中で、名だたる役者たちが様々な役柄を演じる姿を描いた作品です。

本図は、中村芝翫が阿部豊後守に扮した一図。

隅田川の大洪水の折、濁流の中を馬で渡り、被害状況を視察したと伝わる逸話を題材としています。

This series depicts famous actors performing a variety of roles set against different weather and natural conditions.

This print shows Nakamura Shikan as Abe Bungo no Kami.
It is based on a story in which, during a great flood of the Sumida River, he is said to have ridden his horse through the rushing waters to inspect the damage.
