広重の作品を想起させる場面が多く見られる清親の「武蔵百景」。
本図は「名所江戸百景 四ッ谷内藤新宿」を彷彿とさせます。

名所や街道を題材にした浮世絵には、しばしば荷を運ぶ馬の姿が描かれます。本作では、馬の脚の間を小さな蒸気機関車が通り抜け、時代の移り変わりを静かに象徴しているかのようです。

馬のわらじや口籠など細部まで丁寧に描かれ、移りゆく時代の情景が穏やかに映し出された一図です。

Kiyochika’s One Hundred Views of Musashi Province shows many elements reminiscent of Hiroshige’s works.

This print evokes Yotsuya Naito Shinjuku from Hiroshige’s One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
