赤い襦袢を覗かせ歩く二人の女性は、向島の芸者と見られます。

夕暮れどき、影を帯びる富士を背景に、桜咲く堤を行き交う人々――

江戸庶民にとって馴染みの日常を映した作品です。

From the famous cherry-blossom embankment of Sumida, Mt. Fuji appears beyond Sensō-ji and Azuma Bridge.

The two women, revealing flashes of red beneath their kimono, are thought to be geisha from Mukōjima.

At dusk, with Fuji cast in shadow and people strolling beneath the blossoms, the scene portrays the familiar everyday life of Edo.
