本図「さむさう」では、雪の降る中、女性が寒さに身を縮める姿が描かれています。

“Thirty-Two Aspects of Customs and Manners” is one of Yoshitoshi’s finest series of bijin-ga, depicting women of different eras and social classes.

Each work captures subtle gestures and fleeting expressions from everyday life with remarkable sensitivity.

In this print, Samuso (Frozen), a woman is shown drawing in her body against the chill as snow falls around her.
