「福つくし」は、「ふく」という音を含む言葉を題材に、明治を生きる女性たちの姿を描いた美人画シリーズです。
題名にはローマ字表記も添えられており、明治期の西洋文化への関心と遊び心がうかがえます。

まさに題名のとおり、突風に舞い上がる着物の裾や吹き散る桜の花びら。風が吹き抜ける一瞬をとらえた、躍動感あふれる粋な一図です。
